Counselling and Therapy
Brief Intervention – Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Everyone has moments when they feel stuck.
I work within a Brief Intervention model and use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed approach. Within this framework I draw on a wide range of therapeutic and counselling models to suit the person I am seeing. This approach helps people to understand themselves, and their lives, and to develop the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to live more effectively.
In therapy you will be helped to identify your values and find new ways to live a rich, meaningful, life.
When we meet I will ask you some questions to give me a picture of your life as it is right now, and then we will look at what you wish to achieve in our appointments. We will review what you have tried - what is working and what isn't - then we will work together to develop some new ideas, try some different approaches and come up with a plan to help make life better. In our sessions I will draw from a wide range of different counselling and therapeutic approaches.
The Brief Intervention approach is highly flexible and the session structure and the number of appointments will be planned to meet your needs.
Some people may get the help they want from a single appointment and others may want to book for more appointments, or a check-in session to see if things are on track.
